Does Academy Price Match?

Academy is one of the largest sports and outdoors retailers in the United States. While they offer fantastic prices most of the time, they are not always the best.

On this page, we are going to talk a little bit about whether Academy offers a price matching policy. We also want to go through some of the exceptions to this rule.

They will always price match local stores, providing you can provide proof that the price is cheaper than Academy.

They will only price match certain online stores, though. This means that the online store must be one of the following:

Amazon (not third-party sellers)
Bass Pro Shops
Cabela’s
Carter’s Country
Champs Sporting Goods
Dicks Sporting Goods
Eastbay
Fanatics
Gander Outdoors
Hibbett Sports
Kansas Sampler
Rally House
REI
Scheels All Sports

Walmart

This means that they will price match the smaller online stores. This is likely to help ensure that small online stores can thrive. That, and the fact that companies could list any price that they want online, and it would be tough to prove whether that price is a real price or one created specifically to take advantage of the Academy price matching policy.

Does Academy Have a Price Adjustment Policy?

Yes.

If you have purchased an item for Academy and it goes on sale within 14-days of purchase, then Academy will price match it for you.

However, do bear in mind that there are a few exceptions to this rule. If you made a purchase while an item is on clearance, then you will not be able to have a price adjustment. You will also not be able to have a price adjustment if the item was purchased during a limited-time sale.

If you want to take advantage of the Academy price adjustment policy, then you will need to head along to your local Academy, receipt in hand.

Are There Exceptions to Academy Price Adjustments?

As we said before, Academy will only price match a certain number of online stores. However, these are not going to be the only exclusions.

Firstly, you must have a copy of the ad which shows the price that you want to match. This must be printed or in digital form. The price must be currently available.

Academy will likely verify the price. They will not price match anything that is a clear misprint i.e. if the ad lists a price that is not correct and the original store is unlikely to honor it.

If they do offer a price adjustment, then Academy will likely limit a person to one item only, and this can happen just once per day. However, this depends on the item being purchased. Academy can wave this rule in certain situations, and they often do if the product is of a lower value.

They will not price match products that have the following:

Require a membership card to purchase. The product must be available to the general public.
Products that are not in stock at the retailer.
Any clearance items
Buy One Get One Free offers

They will also not be able to offer their rain check service on the matched prices. You must be willing to pay for the product there and then.

Finally, the Academy store will judge how local the retailer is (if you are not price matching online). For example, your local Academy is unlikely to price match a retail store on the other side of the country. There does not seem to be any hard and fast rule about what is classed as local.

Do Academy Price Match Amazon?

In most cases, yes. They will match the prices online at Amazon. However, do bear in mind that they will not match the prices from any third-party seller on Amazon. This includes the prices for products under the FBA program. The item must be sold specifically by Amazon.

Do Academy Price Match Walmart?

Yes. Academy will price match both in-store and online Walmart prices. They will only match products sold by Walmart online, though. If the item is offered through the Walmart website comes from a third-party seller, then Academy will not be able to price match.
