Does Amazon Price Match?
No Amazon stopped its Price Match and Price Adjustment policy in 2018. So as of now, they don’t offer Price Match or Price Protection services to their customers. But don’t worry, there are other tricks by which you can save money while purchasing at Amazon.
Although, you can rest assured that the e-tailer behemoth is offering a great deal, and if you can find the product you want at a cheaper price elsewhere, there still might be something you can do to get that price matched on Amazon.
Amazon does not offer price matching for the products on its platform. One of the ways that Amazon soared to popularity and remains there today is that the retailer is aggressive with its pricing.
Amazon Pricing Strategy
To remain competitive, Amazon seeks to match or beat the lowest prices on products before they are even listed, and the company even encourages its third-party sellers to do the same.
However, there might be instances in which Amazon did not catch a lower price in the market before listing a product or the price of a product dropped elsewhere and not on Amazon. In this case, there might be something you can do to try and get Amazon to match the lower price.
When looking at a product on Amazon, you may notice a section entitled, “product details”. Within this section of the page is a well-hidden gem that just might lead to a price match.
Once you have clicked on “product details”, keep your eyes peeled for the link embedded in the question, “Would you like to tell us about a lower price?” This link will allow you to fill out a price match form.
Of course, you will need to provide proof of the lower price. Now, there is no guarantee that Amazon will match the lower price of the same product you found elsewhere, but it is worth a shot! If your inquiry was successful, you will see the price of the product lowered over the next several days.
Does Amazon offer price adjustment in 2022?
Unfortunately, in 2016, Amazon did away with its post-purchase price adjustment policy that let you get a refund for the difference in the price of a product if the price dropped for that same product on Amazon or if you found a lower price elsewhere, except for televisions.
If you purchase a television on Amazon, you have seven days from the date of purchase to request a post-purchase adjustment. You will simply navigate to your “Order details” page on your Amazon account and click the link entitled, “Found a lower price?” to submit the price adjustment application. Again, this can only be done for televisions.
Keep in mind, Amazon do provide refunds for returns, therefore if you see a lower price for the same product and you’re within the return period, this means you could have Amazon reimburse you and buy the product.
You could also potentially use the Price Protection facility provided by some Credit Card companies.
If your Credit Card provides the facility of Price Protection, then you may get back the refund if the price for the item you purchased reduces at a certain time. The time limit depends upon the company of you have the credit card with.
Does Amazon have a price guarantee policy?
Amazon does not offer a low-price guarantee, but the company is always hunting for the most competitive prices for its products. In fact, Amazon changes prices on its platform nearly 2.5 million times a day in an effort to keep prices competitive for their customers. This means if you check the price of a product several times a day, you will likely see the price fall, potentially within even ten minutes.
Does Amazon offer a price-drop refund in 2022?
Amazon no longer offers refunds for differences in product prices after purchase, unless that item is a TV. However, there are several ways in which you can ensure you are getting the best deal before you buy. A few of those ways include,
- Add a coupon extension to your internet browser: Many coupon extensions are free to install and will automatically search for coupons on products when shopping online.
- Join Amazon Prime: When you join Amazon Prime you get early access to deals, free shipping, and special pricing for subscriptions.
- Don’t overlook the daily deals: Check the box for “Today’s Deals” in Amazon’s search menu on a specific product or peruse the platforms Today’s Deal page.

Does Amazon price match Target?
Although Amazon does not officially have a price match guarantee policy in place, the company may still match Target’s prices on its own or if you alert the company to the lower price via the “product details” section of the item’s page, which is noted above.
However, Target does have a price-matching policy in place, and the policy does include Amazon as long as the item in question is sold directly by Amazon and not a third-party seller.
Does Amazon price match eBay?
As with Target, Amazon does not price match eBay or any other retailer. However, eBay will price match an item you found on Amazon if you call their customer service team before purchasing that product, notifying them of the price difference.
Rules and Exclusions
Because Amazon continuously searches for the most competitive prices for the products sold on its platform, the company does not price-match, price-guarantee, or refund after a price drop.
The only exclusion to the rule is that Amazon will price issue a refund for the difference in the price of a television purchased on its platform if a lower price was found after the purchase and the price-refund request was submitted within seven days of the purchase.
Amazon Pre-order Price Guarantee
Although Amazon does not offer Price Match, they have introduced a new policy, where you get Amazon Price Guarantee on your pre-orders.
Physical Items
While pre-ordering your products from Amazon you also get the Guarantee. Remember that this facility is only offered on the products which have mentioned “Pre-order price guarantee” in the product description.
On this offer, you will have to pay the lowest selling price of that product. That means the lowest price of that product from the order date to its release date.
As an example, if you pre-ordered an iPhone from Amazon and its price reduced when it is launched. Then, you don’t have to pay the price which it was at when you ordered.
You will pay the lower price at the time of launching. Similarly, if the price increases at the time of the release of that product, then you don’t have to pay the higher price. You will only have to pay the lowest price which was at the time of ordering that Item.
Digital Content and Media
If you pre-order Digital Media or content from Amazon, still you get the facility of Price Guarantee.
Digital Content includes Software downloads, Amazon music, Kindle books, and Digital games.
You have to pay the lowest price on any of the Digital content which you pre-order from Amazon.com. Amazon Price Guarantee is applicable on any Digital content pre-ordered. The lowest price is considered from the date you order to the release of that content.

May 2, 2021. My wife purchased a Kindle and 4 days later it was on Sale for $40 less. Customer service’s response was to return the Kindle and purchase a new one. Is that crazy or what?
Yes!!! I just bought a Bissell steam mop and there was a $55 price difference and I ordered it two days ago. CS has no ability to do an adjustment so I returned and am buying again at the lower price. You’d think it be more cost effective to just do the price adjustment..,,
Same here, but only $10.00 difference, so I can’t justify making them drive another unit to me, then taking that to a UPS drop off. They could make this simple adjustment with a few keystrokes. Why does this bug me so much?
If the item is a Prime purchase, your return shipping is FREE and you’ll be instructed to print the return tag and affix it to the return item packaging.
When UPS delivers your new (lower priced) item, hand off the return package to the UPS driver.
Purchased a spa and the price dropped less than a week after the order and even less after the delivery was actually fulfilled- I’m so disappointed in Amazon – the online chat and/or telephone supervisor won’t consider a partial refund at all (blanket policy) and strangely regard this as a price match – Am I the only one that views that this isn’t a price match at all?
The customer service person asked how would feel if price had gone up …. I explained that as per the contract and their policies, which I had just read they would have had to notify me and I could then make a informed choice as to whether to buy it for more (or they would have to cancel the order) particularly if it hadn’t been delivered. Not a true comparison at all …. however something I purchased in good faith I would def not expect the price to change so quickly by over £50+ unless there was a sale I missed! Slightly frustrated by Amazons treatment of a good customer and how they would prefer me to buy another one and return a product at more cost to their staff and the planet’s environment (£200 billion investment in the environment????) than honour their forever sliding price scale of opportunity.
Very saddened regular customer
Tried to get them but they steadfastly refused to give the price difference today. $30 difference for the new Air Pod Pros( Paid $220 but on sale for $190 )
Yes, unfortunately, they don’t offer this facility to customers. You can always return them and get the newly advertised price.
I bought a TV from Amazon and three days later the price of the TV dropped $50. I haven’t received the TV yet. I stepped through the return process and didn’t see any place where they said they would refund the difference. So, I didn’t continue the return. Chatted with Amazon support and they said I should reject shipment from UPS and re-order it. What a cumbersome process.
Just push harder. We ordered my son a hoverboard for Christmas and about a month later it’s $30 cheaper. I chatted with one useless CS agent and asked for a credit. Then I asked for his supervisor and he said they would tell me the same thing. I said that’s fine and asked to talk to them anyway and without typing a thing she offered me a $30 credit. If you’re a prime member and have been for a while, remind them of that. If you spend a lot with Amazon, remind them of that. They don’t want to deal with you, so be confident and push for a resolution while being polite at the same time. Good luck.
I would like to confirm that this CAN be done, as I just today 12/30/21 received a $900 price “adjustment” (not a price “match”), on a large-screen TV delivered yesterday that went down in price by that amount overnight. I kept inquiring and asked for whom else I could be connected with. I was eventually was connected via Customer Service > Price Adjustment Dept > (they checked with some other team).
I purchased an Apple watch series 7 and have not even received it yet in the mail. The price dropped $20 and they would not even price match their own price drop. It’s very sad that an extremely successful company like Amazon does not strive to demonstrate interest in customer satisfaction. Very disappointing. I guess Amazon does not realize all of us customers is why they are so wealthy.
I just asked for a price adjustment on a phone I just bought. It got delivered today and I noticed a $235.00 price drop. Amazon customer service could only offer me $100 credit or I return the phone and order a new one for the current sale price. Im returning the phone tomorrow.
