They allow returns 90 days after the original purchase date with their Change of Mind Returns policy. As long as you have your proof of purchase, you can get a full refund if the product is in original, saleable condition.
Certain items cannot be returned, and online items can be processed for in-store returns. You can also mail in returns.
BIG W offers a wide window for returns. The store will provide you with a refund within 90 days of purchase. You may also be able to exchange. To initiate a return, you will need your receipt/proof of purchase and the product itself.
The items must be in its original and saleable condition and packaging, with all accessories included. The product must not have been used or worn. If it is a perishable product, it cannot be expired.

If you made your purchase at a BIG W store, you can approach the customer courtesy desk at your nearest location in order to process your product return or exchange. The staff will walk you through the process. Be sure to have your proof of purchase with you.
For online returns, you’ll need to mail the product to the return address provided on the packing slip.
Exchanges are eligible for certain items. As long as the proof of purchase is provided along with the item and within 90 days of purchase, you can exchange an item.
Exchanges are not eligible on items that do not qualify for returns.
Certain items cannot be returned to Big W stores. This is usually for hygienic reasons, especially during the pandemic. While Big W does have the change of mind policy, they will not provide a refund on the following items:
- Toilet paper, paper towels, and tissues.
- Soaps, toiletries, cosmetics, feminine hygiene and incontinence products, and pain relief.
- Cleaning items such as antibacterial wipes, sprays and cleaners, and disposable gloves.
- Nappies / diapers and baby wipes.
- Pet food.
If you have bought too many or changed your mind on any of these items, Big W’s policy instead encourages you to share with those around you.
If you received an item that is damaged or faulty, reach out to Big W’s customer service. They will work with you to issue an exchange for the same item. They may also be able to repair the item.
If there’s a major problem with an item you received, Big W states that you are entitled to a replacement, repair, or refund.
Examples of major failure with the products include issues that would have stopped you from buying it if you knew about it first, faults that make it unsafe, or the product being significantly different from the description.
However, bear in mind that this does not include damages that occurred from misuse.
If it seems that the product was used incorrectly and broken, Big W will refuse the refund, exchange, or repair. If the fault is not on you, and Big W cannot repair the product within a reasonable time, you may opt to choose a refund or replacement.
How long a Big W refund takes to show up in your bank account depends on the bank you are using. Typically, shoppers have noted a 2 to 3 day delay if the payment was sourced from your bank account through paypal. If you used PayPal funds, the return may be instant.
If you are shipping products back that you purchased online, factor shipping time into your expected turnaround. Big W products returned in store will be processed immediately.

For the most part, Big W products should be in good, unused condition when you return them. They must be in their original packages, and being sellable condition. Big W reserves the right to refuse any exchange or refund.
It is best to ensure you were completely happy with the product before purchasing it. If you receive an online order, try it on immediately. If you find it does not fit, begin to initiate the exchange immediately before you remove the tags.

As long as items are undamaged, unworn, and still within the acceptable 90 day return window, Big W will issue you a full refund. How long the refund takes to enter your bank account will depend heavily on the bank you have. Cash returns may be exchanged for store credit.

Additionally, they will not take back products that are heavily damaged, soiled, or no longer in the original package.

Yes, you can return online Big W purchases back to your nearest store. Please ensure that you have the packing slip and proof of purchase when you return the items.

As long as it’s not one of the items that are prohibited for returns, such as personal hygiene products, items in good condition will be accepted for a full refund.
