In such a case, you would want to get a refund, but that process differs from platform to platform. What is Xbox’s Refund Policy?

One of the most common products a gamer might want a refund for is an Xbox game itself. Unfortunately, this process is not as easy as most people would like. It depends on whether you bought a physical game from Microsoft or a digital one. A physical game is easy: you would just return it in all of its packaging to Microsoft for a refund.

But most people buy physical games from third-party stores like GameStop or Walmart, and if they buy from Microsoft, it’s usually a digital game. Returning a digital game is not easy, because most of the time, all sales are considered final, with some very rare exceptions.

To even request a refund for a digital Xbox game, you must consider the following requirements:

• You must have a valid reason for requesting a refund
• Refunds are only available for 14 days after the game’s purchase date
• You cannot ask for a refund if you played the game for more than two hours across all of your accounts
• Refunds are only possible at least a day after the game’s release date, and you must have downloaded and launched the game at least once
• DLC and add-on content cannot be refunded

What even counts as a valid reason for a digital refund? Some examples include:

• There’s a mistake in your bill
• You bought the wrong game by mistake
• The game doesn’t work or is heavily malfunctioning
• Someone else bought the game on your account without your knowledge

If your situation meets this criterion, you can go to Microsoft’s Request a Refund Page and find the item you want to be refunded in your order history, then request a refund, which will prompt you to submit relevant info for your refund consideration.

Are There Return Exceptions to These Rules?

There may be unique exceptions to Microsoft’s return policy, but they are generally few and far between. Unless you have extremely niche extenuating circumstances, then no, there are no return exceptions to the aforementioned rules.

Are Xbox Refunds Guaranteed?

As far as digital items are concerned, no. It is entirely possible that Microsoft will deem your request for a refund invalid, for a myriad array of reasons. If you don’t fall into the aforementioned criterion, it’s very likely that Microsoft will refuse to refund your digital purchase.

Once Microsoft receives your physical item or your ticket for the return of a digital item, it generally takes them 72 hours to reach out to you with an email telling you whether or not your item is eligible for a refund.

Conclusion

You can return most physical products to Microsoft for free and get a refund for the full price, not including initial shipping and handling fees. But if you want to get a refund for a digital item, that’s a different beast.

This means that they will price match the smaller online stores. This is likely to help ensure that small online stores can thrive. That, and the fact that companies could list any price that they want online, and it would be tough to prove whether that price is a real price or one created specifically to take advantage of the Academy price matching policy.

Does Academy Have a Price Adjustment Policy?

Yes.

If you have purchased an item for Academy and it goes on sale within 14-days of purchase, then Academy will price match it for you.

However, do bear in mind that there are a few exceptions to this rule. If you made a purchase while an item is on clearance, then you will not be able to have a price adjustment. You will also not be able to have a price adjustment if the item was purchased during a limited-time sale.

If you want to take advantage of the Academy price adjustment policy, then you will need to head along to your local Academy, receipt in hand.

Are There Exceptions to Academy Price Adjustments?

As we said before, Academy will only price match a certain number of online stores. However, these are not going to be the only exclusions.

Firstly, you must have a copy of the ad which shows the price that you want to match. This must be printed or in digital form. The price must be currently available.

Academy will likely verify the price. They will not price match anything that is a clear misprint i.e. if the ad lists a price that is not correct and the original store is unlikely to honor it.

If they do offer a price adjustment, then Academy will likely limit a person to one item only, and this can happen just once per day. However, this depends on the item being purchased. Academy can wave this rule in certain situations, and they often do if the product is of a lower value.

They will not price match products that have the following:

• Require a membership card to purchase. The product must be available to the general public.
• Products that are not in stock at the retailer.
• Any clearance items
• Buy One Get One Free offers

They will also not be able to offer their rain check service on the matched prices. You must be willing to pay for the product there and then.

Finally, the Academy store will judge how local the retailer is (if you are not price matching online). For example, your local Academy is unlikely to price match a retail store on the other side of the country. There does not seem to be any hard and fast rule about what is classed as local.

When we talk about a ‘price adjustment policy’, we are talking about Chemist Warehouse giving a refund if their prices go down after you have purchased a product from them.

Chemist Warehouse does not specifically mention that they have a price adjustment policy. However, they do accept ‘change of mind’ returns in limited situations.

If you can get to a Chemist Warehouse, you may be able to take back a product that you have purchased in the last 7-days.

If you tell them that you want to return it, they may be able to refund the difference rather than return it and have you purchase it back for a cheaper price.

That being said, since this is not an official policy, we cannot promise that they will accept the return. We also cannot promise that they will give you the difference in price.

This means that you are not going to be guaranteed a price adjustment if you head to Chemist Warehouse.

Are there any Exceptions

This is where things can get somewhat confusing, and some people have claimed that each Chemist Warehouse store will make up its own rules.

Their website does not specifically exclude online purchases. However, some people have claimed that they have gone into Chemist Warehouse and they have been declined when the site is ‘online only’.

So, it seems that Chemist Warehouse will specifically exclude only-only sales from their price match policy. We suppose this makes sense.

Those online-only sales will have postage and packaging attached to them, and Chemist Warehouse may beat their price when that is taken into account. 

It seems that when they do accept online price matching, they will only do so if you are purchasing products online from Chemist Warehouse.

This means that they are not going to match online prices in-store, but they will match online prices if you buy through their website. It is a little bit odd in comparison to other price matching policies.

Thankfully, the other exceptions to their rules are a bit more clear-cut. You will not be able to use their price matching policy if:

• The products are out of stock at the other retailer.
• The product is being sold on clearance 
• The product is part of a promotion. For example, they will not price match Buy One, Get One Free offers. 

You should also bear in mind that there may be limitations in what you can purchase from Chemist Warehouse.

For example, if you are looking for a price match on pharmaceutical products, then there will be a cap on the number of items that you can purchase at once. If there is no legal cap on a product, you will only be able to buy three of them from Chemist Warehouse.

This way they ensure that they always have the best prices in Australia.

Not only does Officeowkrs price match, but some would say that the Officeworks price matching guarantee is one of the best in the business. This is because there are actually two price-matching promotions that they offer.

The first is the base price matching. Officeworks hates being undersold. This means that if you find a cheaper price online or offline in Australia, Officeworks will beat it by 5%. 

If you are a parent that has been given an official school list, then you will especially love the price matching promotion offered by Officeworks.

If the price quoted on the school list is cheaper than the standard price for Officeworks, then they will be able to beat it by 20%.

Although to be fair, it is incredibly rare that this will happen. This is because most of the prices included on those official school lists tend to be incredibly expensive.

For starters, if you are looking to purchase a product online, then they will only price match the combined price plus postage and packaging. This means they need to factor in delivery costs.

The Store Must Have The Product In-stock

If you want a price matched, then the product must be in stock with the retailer that you are looking to have the price matched again. If you are only going to Bing Lee because you cannot get the product anywhere else, then they will not be able to price match for you.

The Product Must Be Identical To The Product Sold By Bing Lee

Everything about the product must be exactly the same as the product offered by Bing Lee. This means the model number and the condition of the product. It should also include the same accessories offered by Bing Lee.

The Product Cannot Be On Clearance

If the product is being sold on clearance by the company you want to price match against, then Bing Lee will not price match.

For example, you purchase an item from Rebel Sport in one of its New Zealand stores for $10. A few days later, you see the exact item at a competitor for $8.

You bring proof of the competitor’s price into Rebel Sport’s location. You’ll get the item for $7.20. Rebel Sport will end up refunding you the difference of $2.80.

Does Rebel Sport Have a Price Adjustment Policy?

Rebel Sport does have a price adjustment policy. The retailer will offer price adjustments or matches based on certain criteria.

Criteria and Requirements for Australia

First, the product has to be the same brand, size, color, and model. If you buy a pair of black Nike shoes in a size 9, you can’t get a price adjustment for a size 10 pair of Nikes in blue sold at a competitor. In this case, the shoe model number must also be the same.

Second, the item has to be in stock and available for delivery within the next 7 days. Let’s say you buy a shirt from Rebel Sport and find a competitor’s advertised it for less. However, the shirt’s no longer available. Rebel Sport will not make an adjustment or match.

Third, Rebel Sport doesn’t offer price adjustments on items that a competitor is liquidating, selling at a wholesale outlet, or as part of a commercial volume discount.

Fourth, the item has to be from a competitor that’s doing business in Australia, with either a physical location or website. Finally, the price must be for the item only and not include taxes, fees, or shipping.

Criteria and Requirements for New Zealand

Price adjustments and matching in New Zealand apply to in-stock items sold in physical stores. The adjusted item can’t be from a clearance or liquidation sale or a wholesale outlet. Proof of the competitor’s price must also be brought into a Rebel Sport store in New Zealand.

Based on Rebel Sport’s listed terms and conditions, there does not appear to be any additional exceptions to the price match policy. The entire set of criteria for Australia and New Zealand locations are spelled out on the company’s respective websites.
