David Jones is Australia’s top retailer and has been in business for nearly two centuries, which is an astonishing amount of time for a retailer to consistently maintain that level of success.
David Jones will price match any product from any store within Australia, so long as a few, non-restrictive conditions are met.
The product has to be identical, which makes sense for any kind of price matching model, David Jones’ offers on the specific product are also a match (if any), and either the product is in stock in the competitor’s store or on their website.
In other words, there’s not much that stands in the way of David Jones price matching a competitor’s stock on an item found at the David Jones retailer. It’s a great deal all the way around, however, it doesn’t extend to retailers outside of Australia.

Does David Jones Have a Price Adjustment Policy?
While David Jone’s promise doesn’t make any specific claims as to their adjustment policy, it’s almost a certainty that they will price adjust, based on their Promise policy.
Most likely, it’s going to be at the discretion of management at David Jones, as are many other things that we will list below. If you’re curious as to what a price adjustment entails, it’s an adjustment/return policy based on price changes immediately after purchase.
For instance, if you purchase something from the David Jones website, and during the course of shipping, there is a price drop, David Jones will refund you the difference.
Are There Exceptions?

When it comes to the price matching policy under David Jones’s promise, there are no true exceptions. However, that doesn’t mean that you won’t get turned down at some point down the road if you change your mind.
Here is the list of “possibilities” that could exist under the price matching policy:
- The item has to be in saleable condition
- David Jones has to verify that the item was purchased at David Jones
- The ID that you present is satisfactory and acceptable
- Proof of Age that’s government issued

Does David Jones Price Match Amazon?
David Jones doesn’t officially price match with Amazon. Amazon isn’t a retailer based in Australia so they fall outside of the price matching policy instituted at David Jones. However, that doesn’t mean that the management at your David Jones retailer won’t do it.
It never hurts to try. It was a large bit of news when Amazon invaded the Australian space with its first warehouse based in the country. David Jones went all-in on their ability to price match Australian retailers, which would help them fend off the crippling effects of competing with Amazon.

Does David Jones Price Match Costco?
David Jones doesn’t mention specific retailers. What it does mention, are retailers that are located in Australia. So, the only thing that we have to go on is that. That being said, Costco does have several retail warehouses located in Australia.
If David Jones is to be taken at their word—and they’ve given no reason to consider otherwise—then they would certainly price match items that are sold from Australian Costco stores.
Does David Jones Price Match The Iconic?
Like David Jones, The Iconic is a retailer that is indigenous to Australia and, even though they are primarily a fashion and sporting goods store, any items that are identical and sold At David Jones can be price matched against The Iconic.
David Jones’ primary rule is to keep everything at home, with home being defined as Australia. So that means that any retailer in Australia can potentially have their items price matched at David Jones.
If the Iconic has an identical item that is also sold at David Jones, and Iconic is having a 20% off sale, you better believe that David Jones will have to honor it as their policy so clearly states.
All Things Considered
David Jones has one of the more open and enticing price matching policies in Australia. While it is restricted to all retailers within Australia, that leaves a ton of options for price matching against the large variety of retailers in the country.
