Expedia does price match under specific circumstances, as laid out in the company’s flight and hotel price guarantees. However, the price guarantee policies for hotel and flight booking have strict restrictions.
Some customers have complained Expedia denied their requests for price matches despite following the company’s guidelines. Here’s information on the policy.

Does Expedia Offer Price Matching?
Expedia does price match if your booking meets the qualifications of the company’s price guarantee. According to Expedia’s site, you must submit your claim before midnight on the day you check into your hotel.
This time cutoff applies to the local time zone the hotel is in. You must also find a lower price online and provide both a screenshot and web address reflecting the lower price point. In addition, all the details must match your Expedia booking.
Items like the hotel property, type of room, change and refund policy, included amenities, rate plan, and travel dates must be identical to your Expedia booking.
Bookings that Don’t Qualify
If you find a lower price through a membership discount, such as AARP or AAA, Expedia will not price match your booking. Lower prices offered through rewards programs, corporate or group rates, and discount coupons are also ineligible.
The price for a hotel cannot be part of a travel package, such as a hotel room plus a rental car or a hotel room combined with a flight and rental car. You also can’t submit lower prices you get from sites that do not reveal the hotel’s identity or room details before you commit.
Finally, if the lower price is no longer available from the competitor or Expedia’s site when you submit your request, Expedia will not honor it.
Does Expedia Have a Price Adjustment Policy?
Expedia does not adjust the price of a booking if you find a lower price meeting the company’s price guarantee specifications. Expedia refunds you the difference instead.
Some customers have also said they received a $50 coupon that Expedia applied to their member account balance. The $50 coupon is supposed to be valid for one year, and customers can apply it to their next booking.
Are There Exceptions?
Based on Expedia’s terms and conditions, the company does not appear to have exceptions to its price guarantee. Customers must adhere to the claim and submission guidelines, and Expedia may discontinue its price guarantee policies with or without notice.
Does Expedia Price Match Hotels?
Expedia offers its price match guarantee to Expedia Rewards Members. To become eligible for a refund of the difference, you need to verify your booking meets the criteria. We’ve listed those criteria under the section entitled “Does Expedia Price Match?”
Then, you must submit a claim with verification of the lower price you found. Once Expedia processes the claim and verifies the details, you’ll receive a refund.
For instance, you book a five-night stay at a property for $100 a night. The next week, you find an $80 a night price at the property during the exact same travel dates. Once you submit your claim and Expedia approves it, you’ll receive a refund of $100 for the difference.
Does Expedia Price Match Booking.com?
Since Booking.com lists hotel property names, amenities, and room details, Expedia should price match bookings if they’re “apples for apples.” It must be a price for a hotel booking only at the same property with identical travel dates, amenities, and room types.
For instance, you won’t qualify for a price match with Expedia if the price you find on Booking.com is for a room without an ocean view and the room you secured with Expedia has an ocean view.
Does Expedia Match Flights?
Expedia offers a price match guarantee on flights you book through the travel company’s site. However, you must choose and pay extra for the price match guarantee when you book.
Expedia monitors the price and will refund you the difference if the company detects a lower price on your exact itinerary. You can also check for lower prices and submit a claim. Expedia uses the lowest-cost flight found to determine your refund.
For example, you book a flight with Expedia from Los Angeles to Denver that leaves at 6 am local time on March 19th. You pay $350 for your itinerary.
Within 3 weeks, the price on that same flight falls to $300 with Expedia and $250 with the airline. Expedia will refund the difference of $100 in this case.
