On February 19, 2020, Groupon announced that it would be discontinuing its physical goods store. There are still goods remaining on the Groupon Goods page, but how long it will last is anyone’s guess.
However, for as long as the Goods still last, along with everything else that Groupon typically offers, you can still take advantage of Groupon’s refund policy on Groupon Goods, GrouponLive, Groupon Getaways, and Groupon Local Deals.
Although the Groupon announcement indicated that their Goods would be closed down in the third quarter of 2020 and they would no longer be selling physical items globally by the end of 2020, there are still physical goods available on their Goods page.

What Is The Return Policy At Groupon?
The Groupon Return Policy is only viable so long as you contact Groupon customer service within the 14-day window after purchasing an item. The Groupon policy states that they will work with the merchant and yourself to make the situation right again.
This applies even if you’ve already taken advantage of the offer or goods. For instance, If you use Groupon to purchase a hotel room for a two-night stay, and it wasn’t to your liking, contact Groupon within 14 days of the purchase.
The Groupon policy applies to any local deals, Groupon Getaways, Groupon Goods, and GrouponLive.
- Groupon Goods: Applies to physical items purchased through Groupon. How long the Goods section will last, considering Groupon’s announcement, is unknown.
- GrouponLive: This applies to ticketed events such as concerts, games, and other venues.
- Groupon Getaways: Applies to cruises, hotel rooms, vacation packages, etc.
- Groupon Local Deals: As the name implies, this refers to any deals acquired or purchased locally, such as deep-tissue massages, orthodontic appointments, and deals with local retail chains.
Groupon return or refund claims are primarily made through Groupon’s customer service page.
Groupon Exchange Policy
Groupon’s exchange policy isn’t the standard type of exchange policy that you would experience at a retailer. Since most Groupon-related items are not tangible (physical) items, Groupon does what is called the Groupon Trade-In policy.
- Groupon Local Deals can be returned only within three days of purchase for a trade-in voucher
- GrouponLive can be returned up to the day of the event you purchased through Groupon
- Groupon Getaways can be returned up until the “book-by” date
- Groupon Goods can be returned within thirty days of the purchase
How Strict Is The Groupon Return Policy?
What you will find, if you get down to the nitty-gritty of the fine print, is that Groupon stands by their timeframes on return or trade-in policies. However, regardless of what kind of purchase you made, you cannot get a “no-questions-asked” return if you wait longer than a day.
Inside the 24-hour window, a refund or trade-in is simple and quick. Outside of that, Groupon will honor returns within the timeframe allotted for each group, but you’ll have to contact customer service and jump through hoops to get it.

Can I Return My Groupon After 30 Days?
It’s possible but it would be on a case-by-case basis. Groupon is pretty firm about the 30-day window. In fact, anything outside of 24-hours is going to require extra time, patience, and dealings with customer service.
When it comes to Groupon Goods, Groupon will not pay for the shipping charges on any returned items, whether it’s for a refund or for a trade-in.
Can I Return Groupon Online?
Everything is done online with Groupon, as they have no physical stores to go to. They have physical goods to purchase (as it stands right now), but those are all dealt with online as well.
Are There Return Exceptions?
There are return exceptions but these are usually through local deals. The fine print is important and you’ll need to make sure that any local deals you purchase are analyzed thoroughly.
Many local deals are flat-out non-returnable. That’s more on the end of the local retailer in question rather than Groupon, but it’s listed in the fine print before each purchase.
Does Groupon Have Free Returns?
Groupon won’t charge you for returning an item, however, if it is a physical item that you are returning, Groupon won’t pay for any additional shipping charges that you might incur.
Groupon isn’t very clear about that in their overall Return Policy listed online but if you return an item via mail, you will have to pay for the charges.
How Long Do Groupon Returns Take?
Whether you talk to customer service or make the return within a 24-hour window, once the return is initiated it is immediate. You can return or get a refund on just about anything within 30 days and it is immediate once it’s processed by customer service.
If it’s something you purchased through Groupon Goods, your return won’t be processed until the items that you are returning are back in the hands of the merchant.

How Do I Get A Groupon Refund After 7 Days?
Anything outside of a 24-hour window is going to have to go through Groupon customer service. However, most items purchased through Groupon—unless stated otherwise—are refundable within 30 days.
How Do I Get A Refund On An Expired Groupon?
For that, you will have to contact Groupon customer service. Your request would be processed only if Groupon decides to accept it. Most likely, they won’t, as an expired Groupon will be outside of their normal timeframe.
However, you never know and whoever you speak to may be willing to give you a refund, most likely depending on what side of the bed they woke up on that morning. Groupon return policies can be a bit aggravating but with a little time and patience, you may get what you’re after in the end.
